We are having a blast in Moab. We thought we would be doing scenic trails and we are, but they are also rated difficult. We did Steel Bender the first day (no camera, sorry ) and Metal Masher on Day 2.

Thanks for the pictures of red rock country! Cherie loves taking pictures there. Are you amazed on how much traction the sandstone offers? How is Larry's Jeep working with the doubler?

Now in Silverton CO where it is nice and cool! Ann will be posting more pics from here probably. Moab was close to a 100 degrees every day - bouncing around in the 90s! Larry loved his doubler ! We are loving our trip !

Sorry about the delay in posting pictures and updates, we ran into internet problems. Moab Day 3 brought great views and a little bit of excitement on Moab Rim. Larry and Venus with a tire in the air at the beginning of the day.
Then we had our excitement for the day when Jon nearly flopped his jeep.
What me worry?
Larry to the rescue, no injuries and no serious damamge!!
The view from here was stunning, it was a little disconcerting to walk to the edge and look down though.

Day 4 was Fins and Things, not a real challenging run but the "roller coaster" at the end on the fins was fun. Larry taking advantage of his new doubler.

Day 5 we did Arches National Park. On the way down we went on the back road. Hardly anyone there and we got to see some things that very few people get to like Tower Arch.

We had lots of fun, but the heat was exhausting! It was in the upper 90's to 100 every day. |

We stoped by Silver City near Nappa Idaho on the way home. This is a silver and gold mining town from the 1860's that is still being lived in by ancestors of the origonal people, miners, that lived there way back then. I have pictures of the area and of Moab that I will be posting as soon as I get other important things done. Venus spent the first day of wheeling learning how to use her new Rubi Crawler Box. The second day she drove the Steel Bender trail. Even drove off a 6 to 8 foot water fall with Dan spoting. PIX to come ASAP

We arrived back in Burns yesterday afternoon and are getting Peach ready to leave for 2 weeks of classes in Portland Friday morning. Will catch up as time allows, but what a trip, over 2000 miles in the motorhome and 6 states visited.

July 1-9 were spent in Silverton Co. located at the 9300 foot level and reached by crossing an 11000 foot pass in the motorhome. Some say the Black Bear trail is the most challenging but you get to do that in a jeep. Every day we wheeled in a different direction seeing sights like Kite Lake, Enginner Pass, Emogene Pass, mines everywhere, views like you'd see from Mt. Everest and all types of wildlife and flowers. We traveled as high as 13600 feet where you have to drive, because you can't walk. The fireworks in Silverton were some of the best I've ever seen. We met a very nice couple from Texas and wheeled with them several times, enjoyed some meals together and talked jeep. We watched two fire departments line up on opposite ends of the block and duke it out with everything from squirt guns to truck mounted monitors. All in all a very enjoyable week. Peach will post picks in a couple weeks, she is off at school.
