Friday July 30th 6 employees of the Willamette Natl. Forest and (so far) 4 members of organizations in charge of the Santiam Wagon Road are scheduled to be ride along passengers of Deschutes County 4 Wheelers or other PNW members on the historic SWR.

If you would like to assist us by escorting a forest manager or a member of the Oregon State Historic Preservation Office along the SWR please call. We will meet at 10:00 a.m. at Hoodoo's lodge, in the parking lot.

This ride along is a partial result of the appeal against the Willamette NF the DC4W Trails Committee initiated last year. Our hope is the officials see and understand we do not damage trails we maintain them. We are pursuing re-opening the SWR and this trek is our first foot in the door.

We never dreamed there would be 10 volunteer passengers; we need to have at least 10 volunteer drivers.

4 Wheel drive units will most likely not be utilized. Many of the officials are female and female drivers would be great. Please help us out!

Are there any width restrictions for the rigs that you are looking for? I am thinking of Mark and his Toy. He is 85 inches but might scare some folks even if he was narrower.

Hey, I bet I can fix that!

I don't know the trails been closed for many years. How bout the antique cars how wide are they. I can e-mail and ask Stacie I was thinking of the red dodge that is so cool too so I need to ask before I beg Mark and Clint.

I received a polite no. So thats that. I did ask which segments so I can pre-walk them and make sure they are at least passible. Sorry, Mona

Hi Mona,

I am not sure which segments Meg is going to be driving at this point; maybe the best way to go about this is to ensure we stay with narrow vehicles in case we learn there are width restrictions on some of the segments. Does that seem like it would work?

I guess some of them will just have to walk then but that is fine with me. I will tell Mark that his serices are not needed but thanks for the offer anyway.

I am going to give him a hard time. He decided that he needed next week off to go do some bird watching. That is when I was to see him. Oh well, to each his own. He probably thinks that I am nuts for taking a good vehical and beating the dickins out of it on the rocks and trees. On second thought, I think you are right. If I pick on him he will probably tell me that I need to restart the strong chemo shots. NOT.
