It's great to see some of last years crowd and a few new faces on the Q.A. construction pics. From the grins I'm guessing everyone is still having a good time. I hear good and bad news about some of the routes, give it time you all will prove out to be good stewards. I'm eager to hear what the general public has to say when the ribbon is cut and anyone with the rig and the nerve can give it a try.
As to how and what are we up to. Weaverville is very nice, we feel much more at home here than any other place we have lived. We took a solid whipping on our house sale in OR but we gave a whipping on this end so it all worked out. We have a nice house with a separate guest room for visitors (you all are welcome at our fire) we have a couple creeks, a swimming hole, fruit trees, and we are backed up against public lands and plugged into the trail system. We are about 300 yrds from the end of the pavement and the start of endless dirt roads. We needed 4 low to get home yesterday while poking around within a couple miles of the house. Tracy wasn't real thrilled about having to get out to lock in the hubs in the spot we were in s maybe I'll get to up grade.
Ethan is going to all kinds of day camps, swimming lessons, play dates and fairs, this is an awesome place to be a kid. He is training wheels free as of the 4th of July. He asks me at least once a week "when are we going to start building our rock truck" This is the Jeepiest town I have ever seen, there has to be more Jeeps in this town per capita then anywhere, even our district Ranger drives a Rubicon. I'm wanting a Toyota these days (hey Ice Man)
Work is work, very beautiful here and I have a great crew to work with. Tracy still edits books from the house. I really do miss you guys, you are a great bunch of folks that know how to have a good time and get a heap of work done at the same time, my kind of people.

There is a big difference between never been done and can't be done.

Glad to hear from you Mike and that life is good! We will let you know how well the trail is received after this weekend. Hopefully with some pics. Keep an eye out for a white Cherokee with purple roll cage as that is Josh's. Sat. will be it's maiden voyage in the rocks. Wish you could be here to see the opening.

Hey, I bet I can fix that!

Sorry so long in getting back, we are 6 hours from the Rubicon trail, just about half way from bend. I have been out a bunch in the Wilderness here, very beautiful, lots of wildlife, lots of granite....you guys ruined me, I was out this week crawling around the granite thinking hmmmmmm I bet this could be wheeled, wouldn't it be cool to get a jeep on the top of that slab....

Just checked out the Pirate4X4 link, thanks John and Mona. Sounds like folks like it. Have you all been over to see the next, or at least it was the next one for construction. Wait till you see it, it has some sweet lines, smooth rock, steep climbs, and pits.

It's the 302 trail (under construction) on the map. I talked with Art about this one a bit but never had time to look at it with him on the ground. Essentially it is an old road into a harvest unit then turns into a snow machine trail. The Snow trail has switch backs on slope that will never hold in the summer, as a result the trail will need to run right up an old ash flow, or tuff, some kind of volcanic mud that solidified. Regardless there will be about 1/4 -1/2 of a mile of trail that could be pretty darn easy but scare the pants off some, with some increadibly difficult passing lanes and alterante lines that should fit in well with the Quack Attack flavor. Its a pretty narrow rock band (100-400 feet)but it has pleanty of room for sustainable fun.

Why talk with ART? Is this section under his appeal? He will never build anything with the flavor of Quack Attack!! If you can steel your self away and get up here I will give you a right seat tour of a great Oregon trail. I will look on the maps and talk with Randy about the 302. I just got off the phone with Randy and he said that the 301 was Arts and the 302 was to be built by us. The offer for the right seat still stands though.

Tracy's Dad still lives over in Baker, so I aim to take you up on that offer of a seat, we will need three though, with one being in a booster seat. The 301 will make a nice Sunday drive style class two trail, glad to hear you all will build the 302, you will understand why when you see the options along the rocky ridge. You all should walk it as often as possible so when the FS gives you the go, you will have the optimal routes all lined up in your sick little minds, allot of it will only require route markers, no construction needed.

Just give us some notice and I am sure that we can and will handle the 3 seats.
